Roles in the Production so far.
Research
For the Research of the production we seemed to take a 50/50 cut on the work we have done. I was responsible for the Movie Poster review analysis, half of the existing Media analysis and half of the Influential figure work. I was also responsible for the Genre Research and the Technical research. I also created and analysed the questionnaires for our audience and the social media audience although no one answered the one on social media which was a surprise given how easy contacting people is through social media. I also did half of the Student research and I sent the emails to the professionals. I filmed the focus group and took charge of the consent forms.Planning and Production
For the planning the production I was in charge of the script and the resources and equipment section. during the production I was in charge of finding our cast and getting consent for them to film this was also true for the Focus Group. I also filmed the second half of the dialogue for our first draft of the production. I was also in charge of drafting the Ancillaries and creating the Movie Review Ancillary task. I also sharpened up the editing for our Production. I also was in charge if the Risk Assessment. My main role in the final draft was to make sure that all the improvements suggested to us were implemented when we filmed.
Evaluation Questions
Q1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Q2How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Answers to the Question above
Q3What have you learned from your audience feedback?
From our audience feed back we learned that, when it comes to a horror film people prefer a conventional experience rather then something that defies conventions. The reason for this was that many of them said that when some films try to change the conventions for there production that it doesn't always work and the films then suffers for it, so knowing this we aimed for a more conventional production, but we also wanted to keep an identity for our production so that we don't become a forgettable generic horror film.
Q4How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
We have used a number of different technologies during our production, with varying degrees of success. The main technology that we used during our production was Blogger. This free to use and easy to access blogging website gave us a easy way for us to put our completed work and any initial ideas we have and it also aloud us to show how and why we had to choose a certain idea over the one we have got. The fact that Blogger aloud us to link onto our blog both photos and videos made it possible to put all our work into one area so it is easily accessible for anyone who wanted to find our
work.
The way we were able to edit our production to together was Final Cut, my limited knowledge of the editing software at the start of the production, made me a bit worried about using it but after finding some tutorials on YouTube aloud me to gain confidence to use Final Cut, and thanks to those videos I was able to more effectively participate in the editing side of our production.
Prezi is a online presentation software which we used for our analysis of existing short films and existing film posters. While Prezi is easily used and can be linked into blogger, it is the linking of the Prezi into blogger that is the most problematic issue for me as the link form Prezi does seem unreliable sometimes.
YouTube helped me dramatically as thanks to the videos in the technical research section of our blog I now have a confident understanding of the editing software unlike I did at AS, instead of juts voicing my opinions while we were at the editing part of the production, now I am fully involved editing the production myself as well as improving what my group has edited on.
The internet helped us immensely through out our production as we were able to research things that were not sure about and allowed us quick access to any existing media that we needed to use and analyse for our own production.
